Rabies is a serious disease caused by a virus. Rabishield 100IU Injection is given one is bitten by an infected animal. Post-exposure rabies prophylaxis (PEP) is necessary if you are bitten by a dog, cat, or other animals that are rabid or is suspected to be infected with the rabies virus.
Rabishield 100IU Injection is to be administered as post-exposure prophylaxis after trained healthcare personnel’s approval. If a person is bitten by an animal, wash wounds and scratches immediately with soap and water for about 15 minutes. This medicine is generally administered by a doctor or a nurse at a hospital or clinical set-up and should not be self-administered.
People at high risk of exposure to rabies, such as veterinarians, animal handlers, rabies laboratory workers, and rabies biologics production workers are given pre-exposure prophylaxis. The pre-exposure schedule for rabies vaccination is 3 doses. Ask your doctor about the same.
